16 Months

The boy is a toddler. He even comes with the toddler attitude. I understand. He is frustrated because he can understand everything, but can't always communicate what he wants to say. (He has a few words and a few signs, but he seems to forget those in moments of frustration.) I try not to laugh, but it is pretty hilarious when he puts on his angry face and pounds his little fists on the floor.

Christopher is so squirmy. The car seat: battle. The changing table: battle. I always tell him it would be done so much faster if he would just stay. still. That works about as well as you can imagine.

He is still doing the drunken toddler walk, but he is getting so much better. He gets places fast, too. Today at the library I thought he was playing in one spot, only to discover he was actually halfway to the entrance of the library. He saw me coming, and looked back and gave me a grin that said this was the most exciting day ever. It also said: yeah, I am walking away. What are you going to do about it?

For awhile, we were trying to figure out which side of the family Christopher takes after. He is definitely landing on my side now. He looks just like my dad and brother did as babies. (He still has Ben's Uncle Pete's eyebrows, though.)

I mentioned he has a few words. In addition to milk, more, uh-oh and mama, he now says hi and cracker. I heard him say ball one day, too, but he hasn't said it since. He does a lot of babbling in his own mysterious language, though, so I know he'll be speaking more words any day.

I took him to the Children's Museum a few weeks ago while Clare was at preschool. This was the first time I'd gone anywhere like that with just him. Normally, we run errands while Clare is at school. The Children's Museum was a blast! It was so easy having just one to look after. I don't know why, but it keeps taking me by surprise that he is old enough to enjoy things like the that now. My little baby is gone! Luckily, my little toddler is just as sweet. Most of the time.

My two munchkins.
This is a bit blurry, but too cute to resist.
Mohawk.
The boy loves eggs. He ate this entire 3-egg omelet. Plus a banana.
